I'm interested to see how that CPA offer works out for you long-term. Perhaps you should have started with it, instead of Adsense?

I've used OpenX in the past to rotate CPA banners on my sites, but never had great luck with it. That said, I'm now under contract on one site for an ad agency. So far, the banners they are providing are all on Commission Junction - I'm wondering if they aren't essentially doing arbitrage on CPA offers, to sites that don't recognize their own earning potential. I'll be monitoring my clicks closely, of course, to see how that works out...

On the bright side - you obviously know how to build a successful site from scratch now. Why don't you simply start the process again?

While your new site is growing, make it a priority to divorce your earnings on the first from Adsense. Put together a digital product, or approach some of your Adsense advertisers directly. If you've truly saturated your niche, in a couple of months you should be able to build a convincing case that advertising with you directly is cheaper than going through Adwords.

Just a thought - bear in mind that I've still yet to get a check from Adsense. Still sitting at $40.

I have 3 ad units: 1 below the title but above the content. 1 below the content. And 1 in the sidebar. Each is a separately targetable channel. And you may be right about being targeted, the site's CPC went up more than 50% in April.
