Blue Sky Theory
Posted by cuinlalaland in Lifestyle on June 29, 2009
I need to ask you a question (maybe) a crazy question. How do I know it might be crazy? Because every time I ask people this, they laugh. But then they always nod and say: “Yeaaah…” when they realize I’m not kidding that’s when they have a lightbulb moment. And that’s how I know it’s a great question, a mind-alterating, soul-bending, life-changing question. In otherwords, exactly the type of thing I should ask you, because you’re smarter than me and maybe you can figure it all out.
Ready?
Have you ever, and I mean EVER, looked out the window or stepped outside and said: “[Insert explitive] not a blue sky again???”
The Theory of Blue Sky
Would I be going out on a limb to venture to guess your answer is No? Everyone I’ve ever asked said no. If that’s not your answer than you absolutely must comment on this post or email me because I would be fascinated to hear your take!
Do you know why everyone says No? Have you ever thought about it? I think about it all the time…does that make me a little weird? Because I know the question isn’t weird, not when you really think about it. And the answer…ah the answer…is beauty and love and perfection and unity all wrapped into one. It’s the kind of thing that can change your whole way of thinking about the world.
Regardless of age, or gender, or ethnicity, or spiritual beliefs, or finanical or social status…everyone loves the blue sky! Everyone agrees it’s beautiful and no one ever gets sick or tired of seeing it.
Why
But-but-but!! Wait! That can’t be right. Everyone is unique, races and genders and all that…we’re sooo different, how could we possibly all agree on something? Well, I don’t know…but I have a Theory!
Maybe we’re not so different after all. Could it be that the Blue Sky is just the tip of the iceberg? That we really have much more in common than we ever dreamed? I think so. I think we were made this way intentionally. I think the ability for endless appreciation of blue skies, and sunrises, and sunsets, and waves crashing on the beach, and puppies playing and falling and rolling in the tall grass, and meadows of flowers in spring time… is a sign of many other great things that we can all identify with no matter who we are or where we come from.
What it Means to Me
In an odd, roundabout kind of way, this sort of thing gives me confidence in what I write. I know that if something fascinates, inspires, perplexes…or otherwise gets to me in one way or another, and I write about it, other people will feel the same. OK maybe not every single human who has ever lived like the sky, but enough to make saying it worthwhile. It also eliminates the fears that I might otherwise have about putting this kind of theory out there. I know this will connect with the right people and if you’re one of them, let me know! The comments section is there for a reason, I want to hear your thoughts!
